Mutual

This picture is such a true depiction of you. Always unbothered + beautiful with just enough audacity to be everything for me. Even on days when I try to convince myself that God made a mistake, you show up with a hand full of grace + a heart full of compassion. I’ve learned that loving you is like saying a prayer that is answered daily. I love you proudly + intimately bearing witness to the work the Creator is doing in your life. You anchor everything in love + for that I am grateful.

This month is special because 53 years ago you came with a purpose that you are slowly stepping into. You are easy as water, effortless as oceans + tender as a face full of tears. I thank you. You offer enough to drown away the stench of past lovers. Your pain has grown a garden that I get to harvest. I thank you. Our love is connected by generations of women who were silenced + never thought to scream for fear of shattering the dreams of others. You rumble quietly throughout my life leaving remnants of light. I thank you.

This month I honor you in the way that I live to honor you daily…with intention + love.
